Clearwater Corporate Finance has promoted two members of its team to director roles.
Gareth Iley is based at the Birmingham office and has a leading role with the retail and consumer sector team with Clearwater. Since joining the firm five years ago he has advised on deals worth over £200 million, including the management buy-outs of the UK’s largest discount bookshop chain the Works, advising the vendors on the sale of shoe retailer Stead & Simpson and more recently advising the vendors on the sale of DatingDirect.com.
Gareth previously worked for accountants KPMG and stockbroker Old Mutual Securities.
Jon Mercer is based at the Manchester office and has advised on deals in a number of sectors including engineering, manufacturing and support services. He has significant experience of cross-border transactions.
During his seven years with the company he has advised on 20 deals, including the recent sales of hearing aid dispenser Ultravox to the Italian company Amplifon SpA, the trade buy-out of safety footwear company LH Safety, and the management buy-out of the Great Northern Envelope Company.
A qualified accountant, Jon started his career with accountants Andersen in Manchester, working on due diligence assignments.
