The Y Factor is here with a golden opportunity for would be singers to make their mark on stage. Birmingham’s corporate community is backing the Mencap event that aims to raise thousands of pounds to help people with a learning disability.
HBJ Wareing along with Clearwater Corporate Finance, DLA Piper, Barclays Commercial, LDC, Royal Bank of Scotland are sponsoring Mencap’s Y Factor event taking place at The Glee Club on 24 March. Deloitte, Harvey Ingram, Dimensions and Maverick TV are supporting the event.
Budding singers will be taking to the stage for one night only to perform in front of a live audience and be critiqued by a high profile panel of judges including Insider magazine’s Andy Coyne, and Heart FM’s Ed James will be host for the evening. All contestants will receive professional coaching from top singer Rebecca Schwarz before the event and will be accompanied by live band ‘Demons of Tune’ on the night.
The fundraising event hopes to raise £25,000 for Mencap, which support the 180,000 people in the West Midlands with a learning disability and their families and carers. The charity fights to change laws and services and provide better access to education, employment and leisure facilities for people with a learning disability.
Phil Burns of Clearwater said: ‘We are proud to support Mencap and the Y Factor event and look forward to a highly entertaining and productive night. Birmingham’s corporate community has a long track record of supporting fundraising events like this and we are confident that with the sponsors and support we already have on board, the event will be a runaway success.’
