Clearwater International has advised Equitis on its merger with SGG Group. This transaction will facilitate Equitis’ international development.

Founded in 2000, Equitis is the French leader of fiduciary services and one of the main French alternative fund management companies, authorized as an AIFM by the French high financial authority, the Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF). The company, which registered a growth of more than 30% of its turnover in 2015 and whose assets under management (AUM) now reach € 2.5 billion, plans to double its AUM within the next three years, pushed by the growing market demand for outsourced fund management, as well as for fiduciary services.

The pooling of Equitis’ expertise and SGG Group’s international network will allow the development of fiduciary solutions in many new countries.

Clearwater International advised Equitis on the acquisition, led by Thomas Gaucher, Managing Partner and supported by Director Thomas Hamelin.

“Joining forces with SGG, an international group, will allow us to expand our expertise in a more swift and complete fashion, in France and beyond. SGG as Equitis, has been created and is managed by passionate entrepreneurs who are in the frontline in the daily management of their firm, and above all, by their clients’ side.”

Stephan Catoire and Philippe Bertin, co-founders of Equitis

“We are pleased to find in Equitis a company and team that are leaders in their market on lines of services that are essential for our Group; as well as a development platform to support our clients in France. From the first meetings we had with our new partners, we found a perfect complementarity between our two companies in terms of ambitions, strategy, service lines, and above all, corporate culture and human potential. The founders and senior managers of Equitis have the same vision and the same growth ambitions as we do. They are also equally passionate about their business and excellent quality of service.”

Serge Krancenblum, SGG’s Group CEO

“Easton Clearwater is very pleased to have advised Stéphan Catoire and Philippe Bertin co-founders of Equitis, both experts in Fiduciary services in France and Fund Management. Stephan has been a pioneer in the development of Fiducies, which were introduced in French law a decade ago. Today, he is the undisputed leader of this specific security structure. By joining SGG group, Equitis will be able to accelerate its development and benefit from international market opportunities.”
