Nottingham corporate finance adviser Rob Britton has been promoted to partner at Clearwater Corporate Finance, the largest independent corporate finance house in the UK focusing exclusively on mid market transactions with a value up to £100 million.

Rob becomes the firm’s tenth partner. He will continue to operate from Clearwater’s Nottingham office with responsibility for developing the firm’s deal flow while deploying sector-specific expertise, which includes financial services and home & building products.

Rob (aged 40) joined the corporate finance team at the Nottingham office of BDO Stoy Hayward in 2000 and was a director at the time Clearwater was created via a management buy-out in March 2003.

During the last four years he has managed the successful £22 million secondary MBO of Robinson Healthcare, the £30 million re-capitalisation of LS Group and the sales of Trent Valley Window and Door Company and Bland Bankart, one of the top five independent insurance brokers in the UK.

He recently managed the £46 million MBO of Britton Group, the UK’s number two flexible packaging manufacturer, which involved a number of East Midlands funders and advisers. Previously Rob spent 16 years with NatWest, most recently in the Specialised Finance Unit in Nottingham.

Born and bred in the East Midlands, Rob lives near Nottingham and feels passionately about the future prosperity of the region’s business community.

“Nottingham appeals to me not only because it is a great place to live but it has a thriving business and professional community. The East Midlands is home to a wealth of businesses that present many opportunities for Clearwater.”

Rob is married with two children and is a keen sportsman. He is a member of Nottingham Hockey Club, Kirkby Portland Cricket Club and a member of Wollaton Park Golf Club.

“Rob’s promotion is entirely merited, and we look forward to benefiting further from his excellent knowledge of the regional corporate finance industry, allied to a thorough understanding of sector-related activity,” said Clearwater partner Phil Burns.

“In addition, having an extra partner in our Nottingham office creates a more effective balance between our operations in the East and West Midlands.”
