Former venture capital firm partner Gary Hyem has joined the Birmingham office of Clearwater Corporate Finance as a director.
Gary, aged 38, was recruited from Baring English Growth Fund and is a seasoned deal-doer, having previously held senior corporate finance positions at ‘Big Four’ accountancy firms Ernst & Young and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Gary’s new role involves advising corporates, private equity houses and management teams on the buy-side and sell-side of major transactions.
He brings substantial high-grade experience of the regional corporate finance market, together with a strong contact-base across the Midlands.
Gary has played a lead-advisory role in 17 deals during a corporate finance career spanning 11 years. Recent transactions he has been involved in include the management buy-out (MBO) of pet products business Sinclair Animal & Household Care and the MBO of bulk haulage operator Hargreaves Plc.
“I’ve joined Clearwater because I wanted to move back into advisory and join what I see as the leading and most active team around. They are a highly innovative and entrepreneurial team, which suits my style, and their track record speaks for itself,” said Gary, who qualified as a chartered accountant with Arthur Andersen and lives on the Nottinghamshire-Leicestershire border.
Phil Burns, partner with Clearwater commented: “Recruiting Gary represents a major strategic move in the growth of our business in the Midlands. His expertise and experience, particularly in the private equity sector, are testament to his standing as one of the region’s most accomplished deal-doers.”
