Cloudex 20:20

Clearwater launches hunt for top 20 UK cloud companies.

Cloudex 20:20, a search for the UK’s 20 leading independently owned cloud technology businesses, has been launched by Clearwater Corporate Finance.

Clearwater, which last year advised on a range of deals in the TMT sector including the sale of SaaS business Exentra to Descartes Systems Group, has lined up a panel of industry experts to adjudicate the UK’s most exciting cloud businesses.

On the panel are:

  • Steve Garnett, European Chairman of the world’s leading cloud computing business
  • Stephen Warshaw, operating partner at TMT specialist investor HgCapital
  • Neville Davis, current Chairman of technology businesses Fourth Hospitality and Secure Data
  • Angela Eager of leading technology news and research portal TechMarketView
  • Clearwater Corporate Finance Senior Analyst Emma Rodgers

Unlike other global business rankings, Cloudex 20:20 is based on more than simply turnover or profit growth. Panel members will take into account other metrics including growth prospects, innovation and global competitiveness.

Cloudex 20:20 is open for entries now, with all UK-based independently owned cloud technology companies eligible. The final list of 20 businesses will be announced in the summer.

Emma Rodgers of Clearwater Corporate Finance, said: “The market for cloud technologies is growing rapidly as businesses realise the benefits that come from utilising the cloud, such as scalable storage, access to superior technology and the ability to cut down on capital expenditure. Behind all of this there is a legion of innovative businesses that are among the fastest growing in the UK.

“Cloudex 20:20 is about highlighting and celebrating those companies, many of whom may be well below the radar. As cloud technology continues to invade every part of the market, it is important that we unearth those leading lights as many will be investment-ready and ripe for their next stage of growth.”

Clearwater set up the Cloudex Index in 2010. It tracks the fortunes of about 100 international listed and private software, services, hardware and infrastructure businesses. Since launch, it has consistently outperformed the New York-based NASDAQ index, which is home to tech giants including Apple, Facebook and Google.

If you would like to nominate your company for inclusion in Cloudex 20:20 please contact Emma Rodgers at for details. Deadline for entries is Friday 31st May.
