After a successful Management Buy-Out in March this year TLG Corporate Finance plc is announcing its re-branding as Clearwater Corporate Finance plc.

Clearwater, which has already advised on £50 million worth of deals in the 11 weeks since its MBO, is the UK’s largest independent corporate finance house focused exclusively on mid-market transactions up to £100 million.

Recent deals have included the £13 million sale of AIMS Group – a leading specialist consultancy covering the full range of health, safety, environmental and property related, technical compliance issues – to Alfred McAlpine plc and the £30 million re-capitalisation package for LS Group and its subsidiary Leaderflush & Shapland Ltd, the UK market leader in the manufacture of commercial doors and doorsets.

Phil Burns, partner with Clearwater said that Clearwater’s logo is inspired by their focus on deal origination. “We initiate transactions – creating ‘ripples on the pond’ and are setting the standard for deal origination in the mid-market and LS Group and AIMS are excellent examples of this.

“Clear is the guarantee of how we deliver advice to clients with the clarity of thought needed to make deals happen. And Water is a basic ingredient and this is what we are to client’s deals – at the centre of the transaction, leading negotiations from inception to closing.”

With eight partners and 20 professional staff based in Birmingham, Nottingham and Manchester, the Clearwater team has completed over 180 transactions in the last five years with an aggregate value of over Euro 2 billion split equally between purchaser and vendor assignments.

Clearwater has just been notified that it is one of four nominations for the ‘Boutique of the Year’ category of the European Private Equity Awards. The Awards, which will take place in Paris in November, are the highest accolade in European private equity.

Clearwater has already won a number of awards from the industry including the BVCA’s (British Venture Capital Association) Private Equity Awards – Financial Adviser of the Year, the Top Corporate Finance Adviser and overall Top Dealmaker 2002 from Finance Midlands Insider and was voted Top Corporate Finance Advisory Firm 2002 by North West Business Insider.

Clearwater’s clients range from owner managers, private equity houses and management teams to larger corporate groups.

It focuses exclusively on providing corporate finance advice for mid-market transactions delivering strategic solutions and a complete range of services from corporate acquisitions, management buy-outs and buy-ins, development and replacement capital, exit strategies, company sales and corporate divestments and restructuring.

“It’s been a busy and interesting few weeks and we have several major deals and developments in the pipeline,” added Burns. “You will be hearing a lot more about Clearwater in the coming months.”
