France-based Aures Technologies has acquired J2 Systems Technology for an undisclosed sum, in a deal advised on by the TMT team of Clearwater Corporate Finance.

Both J2 and Aures supply PC-based touch screen electronic point of sale (EPOS) terminals and systems primarily to the retail and hospitality industries. J2 has operations in the United Kingdom, the United States and Australia. The combined group will have turnover in excess of €50m in 2013, enabling them to become one of the leading global players in the POS market.

The Clearwater team comprised Partner Carl Houghton, Senior TMT Analyst Emma Rodgers and Director Dan Bowtell who advised J2 on the deal.

Patrick Cathala, Chief Executive and founder of the AURES group, said: “This acquisition will make the AURES Group a major international player in the electronic point of sale market.”

Moray Boyd, CEO of the J2 Group, said:“10 years after its creation, the J2 Systems organisation is joining the AURES Group. The two organisations have remarkable synergies, and by integrating into one of the foremost players in the point of sale market allows J2 to accelerate its International growth ambition.”

Carl Houghton said: “We have a long history of advising on software deals in the retail and hospitality sector such as Fourth Hospitality, Freeway Commerce, Panacea and Galleria. J2 was a rare move into the more challenging hardware arena, but our extensive research gave us the confidence that we would secure strong international buyers which was exactly the outcome.”
