Clearwater International advises on the sale of EWS to Arc Specialist Engineering

Date

London Stock Exchange listed Tyman plc (LSE: TYMN), a leading international supplier of components to the door and window industry, has sold its steel reinforcer business, EWS, to Arc Specialist Engineering Limited (Arc). Clearwater International advised Tyman’s UK and Ireland division, ERA, on the multimillion-pound disposal.

EWS is a precision custom roll forming manufacturer, with a market-leading position in the UK fenestration reinforcement sector, and a division of ERA, leaders in the design, development, manufacture and distribution of innovative solutions for the residential building and home improvement markets.

Arc was formed in March 2013 to acquire the trading assets of Metalrax Group plc’s engineering businesses.

Clearwater International advised ERA on the deal. The team was led by Birmingham-based partner Jon Hustler, supported by associate Mark Gillingham. Clearwater’s Birmingham team also recently completed the £95m sale of HL Plastics to Quanex.

Jon Hustler, Head of Industrials at Clearwater International, said: “This transaction demonstrates that there remains keen interest at this point in time in businesses in the building products arena.”
